Spicy Venison Stromboli

Ingredients (makes 2)

  • Dough
    • 3 – 3.5 cups Kamut flour or 3.5 – 4 cups All-Purpose flour
    • 3 TBSP yeast
    • 1 tsp sugar
    • 1 tbsp salt
    • 1 cup hot water
    • 3 TBSP olive oil
  • Toppings
    • Ground Italian Sausage
    • Pizza sauce or marinara sauce
    • Cheese of choice
    • Olives
    • Peppers
    • Onions
    • Banana peppers
    • Mushrooms

Directions

  • In a large bowl, stir 2 cups flour, sugar, salt, and yeast. Add the olive oil and warm water slowly. Using a mixer, mix well for one minute
  • Add enough flour until your dough is sticky and forms a ball in the mixer
  • On a floured surface, place the dough and knead until the dough is tacky
  • Cover and let rise about 20 minutes
  • Prepare fillings of choice
  • Preheat oven to 375
  • Divide dough into two (or four smaller) equal pieces and roll into a 10 x 8 rectangle
  • Place the fillings in the center and leave one inch all along the edges
  • Fold the short sides in fold the long slides together, crimping the dough tightly to keep everything together
  • Place the strombolis on a prepped baking or cookie sheet and bake for 20 – 25 minutes or until lightly browned
  • Let cool and enjoy!
