Unfortunately, we just got back from a road trip for my grandma’s funeral, and our kids usually don’t do well in the car past the 2 hours (this was a 6-hour car ride, not including the times we stopped). Our kids are 4 and 2.5, for reference on the items listed below!

Road Trip Essentials

• Car Organizer
  • This came in handy while loading the car and keeping it organized with all of the snacks, books, and games we brought with us. We have two (one behind each seat).
• Car Seat Trays
  • These were a lifesaver for snacks, it has a few drink holders and compartments to hold small toys/markers, and the tray itself is a dry-erase board (and comes with markers)! It is super easy on and off, too
• Tonies
  • We always travel with their Tonie boxes and characters for bedtime, but they also make great entertainment in the car for long road trips—just make sure the box is charged beforehand!
• iPads
  • Screens are a treat and a huge help while traveling. I mean, I want to be entertained if I am not driving, so I assume my kids are no different. We have downloaded shows and games they can watch/play, and they ended up being on their screens for only about half the car ride.
• Slumberpod
  • This one is more for travel in general with a toddler if you are planning to stay in a hotel or possibly a relative’s house that doesn’t have a separate room for your child. You can place them over a crib, pack-and-play, or right on top of a bed. The set-up and take-down are extremely easy, and they carry in a small bag.
• Snackle Box
  • I wanted to keep them on their nutrition as much as possible, and gas station snacks are so expensive if you are buying something high quality. So I decided to pack all our snacks and drinks; the snackle boxes were so fun for the kids! I order all snacks from THRIVE (40% off first order)
