Ingredients
- 1lb ground elk (or venison, beef, etc)
- 1/2 TBSP olive oil
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 yellow onion- finely diced
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 8 slices cheese of choice
- 12 dinner rolls
- 1 TBSP butter
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 and spray a cookie sheet or rimmed baking sheet
- Place a large skillet over medium heat with olive oil. Add onion and elk and season with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Saute over medium heat and cook throughout
- Drain any excess fat
- Mix in mayo
- Cut the buns in half. Place the bottom half on the prepped baking sheet. Line bread with cheese, top with elk mixture, more cheese slices on top, and the top of the buns
- Brush tops with butter
- Bake for 12 – minutes or until the cheese is melted and the tops are golden brown
