Ingredients (makes 2)
- Dough
- 3 – 3.5 cups Kamut flour or 3.5 – 4 cups All-Purpose flour
- 3 TBSP yeast
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tbsp salt
- 1 cup hot water
- 3 TBSP olive oil
- Toppings
- Ground Italian Sausage
- Pizza sauce or marinara sauce
- Cheese of choice
- Olives
- Peppers
- Onions
- Banana peppers
- Mushrooms
Directions
- In a large bowl, stir 2 cups flour, sugar, salt, and yeast. Add the olive oil and warm water slowly. Using a mixer, mix well for one minute
- Add enough flour until your dough is sticky and forms a ball in the mixer
- On a floured surface, place the dough and knead until the dough is tacky
- Cover and let rise about 20 minutes
- Prepare fillings of choice
- Preheat oven to 375
- Divide dough into two (or four smaller) equal pieces and roll into a 10 x 8 rectangle
- Place the fillings in the center and leave one inch all along the edges
- Fold the short sides in fold the long slides together, crimping the dough tightly to keep everything together
- Place the strombolis on a prepped baking or cookie sheet and bake for 20 – 25 minutes or until lightly browned
- Let cool and enjoy!
