I was of course scrolling recipes on TikTok during my latest pregnancy insomnia episode the other night and found a “hot dog burnt end” recipe that looked amazing. That being said, it required about 14 ingredients for the dry rub and another 15 for the sauce + had a cook time on the grill of about two hours. While that sounds SUPER manageable for someone who is pregnant with an 18 month old, I knew I had to find a simpler way to make it without requiring that much time, effort, and individual ingredients.
This is extremely easy and really such an easy meal for anyone, especially on those days when you are craving some comfort food. As always, you can use any meat you want, we just use the venison that’s in our freezer so that’s what I list!
Ingredients:
- Venison hot dogs
- Sauce:
Directions:
- Boil hot dogs in water on stovetop
- While boiling, whisk together remaining sauce ingredients
- Once hot dogs have finished boiling (I do 8-10 minutes), drain, slice
- Add sliced hot dogs to a boil and coat with sauce
- You may have extra sauce left over depending on how many hot dogs you use at a time!
As a side note, you could even take this as far as just boiling the hot dogs, draining, slicing, and adding your favorite store bought BBQ sauce of choice.
As always, please cut up food to the appropriate size for your child based on their eating skills / age!

Absolutely love when you share these quick, realistic meals. Thank you for taking the time to share! My daughter is only 7 months right now, but not only will these come In handy for the future, they’re useful now as sometimes it’s a beast trying to get dinner made for my husband and I around her bedtime!
My husband also found a recipe on TikTok last week for “poor man’s” burnt ends which was made with a chuck roast. Turned out so goodn, but took SO LONG to do even though the initial recipe said “only four hours on the smoker!!” Needless to say, he also absolutely learned the hard way sometimes we have to just take inspiration from our TikTok meal finds ?
