Josh and Sarah Bowmar of Bowmar Bowhunting have personally been responsible for the donation of over 60,000 meals in South Africa, Mozambique, and Tanzania combined since 2016! We have been very fortunate to travel to South Africa three times and Mozambique once (as of late 2020). It is our mission to go to Africa every year so that we can continue our efforts in conservation and philanthropy work.

We have spent roughly six months in Africa combined in the four years we have traveled there. 98% of our time has been spent bow hunting. While this may be a turn-off to some, let me explain. Hunting (anywhere) requires you to purchase a license and a tag for the animal, therefore giving the animal value. If the animal had no value, there would be no reason to protect and properly manage them. If animals were not hunted in Africa, they would have no value and therefore, no need to protect them from poachers. On top of animals having value, hunters provide the funds necessary to protect the animals through anti-poaching efforts. In addition, hunters are also able to provide tens of thousands of meals for locals in the area we\they are hunting. Absolutely nothing goes to waste in Africa and we are proud to be able to contribute to multiple efforts at the same time. Strictly bow hunting provides its own challenges but that is a post reserved for another day.

On our second most recent trip to Mozambique, we were not only able to donate meals, but we also donated hundreds of toothbrushes, personal hygiene products, books, school supplies, etc to a local school near our camp. It is absolutely incredible and humbling to see how grateful others are for things we so often take for granted.
