Creamy Elk and Bowtie Pasta

Easy. Delicious. Reheats. Kids love it. Easy clean-up. What else do you need to add this into your weekly dinner rotation? As always- you can sub the elk for beef, venison, ground turkey, etc!

Ingredients

  • 12oz bowtie pasta
  • 1 TBSP olive oil
  • 2lb ground elk
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 3 TBSP garlic
  • 1 can (14.5oz) diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp salt and pepper
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded parmesan cheese

Directions

  • Cook the pasta according to the package until al dente. Drain and set aside
  • While the pasta is cooking, add the oil to a skillet over medium heat. Add elk and onion and cook until elk is browned and the onion is softened
  • Add the minced garlic, diced tomatoes (with their juice), broth, and seasonings. Bring mixture to a simmer and cook for 5-7 minutes
  • Reduce the heat, add heavy cream, and cook for 2-3 minutes. Turn off the heat and stir in the cheese
  • Once everything is combined, add pasta to the skillet and toss until evenly coated
  • Enjoy!

Can I do this with any other meat? Like chicken or ground turkey?
