Venison Biscuits and Gravy Casserole (with protein biscuits)

Ok this will absolutely be in the weekly rotation for us and it will definitely be on the menu whenever we have guests in town (it made a ton- which do reheat nicely)! As always, use whatever meat you have access to

Ingredients

  • Gravy
    • 2lbs maple venison sausage (or pork)
    • 4 cups milk
    • 8 eggs
    • 1/2 cup flour
    • 3 TBSP butter
    • 3/4 tsp salt
    • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • Biscuits
    • 1/2 cup softened butter
    • 1 cup flour
    • 1.5 cups protein biscuits and gravy mix
    • 1 TBSP baking powder
    • 1 TBSP sugar
    • 1/4 tsp salt
    • 1 cup milk

Directions

  • Gravy
    • Heat oven to 350
    • Spray 9 x 13 glass pan with cooking spray
    • Brown sausage in a skillet over medium heat. Once cooked, layer glass pan
    • In bowl, add egg and whisk
    • Add over sausage
    • Add butter to skillet and melt. Add flour, salt, pepper over medium heat and stir. Cook 2-3 minutes
    • Add milk, one cup at a time. Whisk or use a dough hook on low, stirring often until thickened
    • Pour gravy over eggs in pan
  • Biscuits
    • Once gravy is in pan, begin the biscuits
    • Mix all ingredients in a bowl
    • Grab golf ball sized dough at a time and layer on top of gravy
  • Bake 25-30 minutes until biscuits are golden brown. Serve warm
