It’s hard to have a bad day when you know you’re having chicken fried elk steak for dinner. You of course can use any sort of wild game or beef for this recipe!
How to Enjoy Wild Game Without it Being Gamey
Ingredients
- 8 elk steaks (roughly 8oz each)
- 2 eggs
- 4 TBSP heavy cream
- Fish Batter If you don’t have any fish batter, use the following ingredients for your batter
- 2 cups flour
- 1/2 tsp smoked paprika powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- Fish Batter If you don’t have any fish batter, use the following ingredients for your batter
- Olive oil
Directions
- Set oven to 400
- Tenderize steaks or backstraps
- In a small bowl, whisk together eggs and heavy cream
- In a large bowl, add dry batter
- Dredge steaks through egg wash and then coat with batter on both sides
- Place all prepped steaks on a cookie sheet and bake for 10 minutes (this will cook the inside of the steak to medium-rare; use a meat thermometer to check 130-140)
- Once the oven is finished, heat oil in a saucepan, and once it’s hot- add steaks. This will crisp the outside and cook the meat a little more. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side
- Enjoy!
