If you are old enough to read this, you need toe spacers. Just order them now, and then come back to this blog. I first learned about them from my pilates instructor, and then my trainer recommended them. We have been peeling back the layers over the last year and a half with my training, flexibility, mobility, recovery, foot and ankle strength, etc.
Your toes are the foundation of E V E R Y T H I N G
They work by separating and realigning the toes, reducing pressure and friction between them, and promoting proper alignment and weight distribution in the feet. The benefits of using toe spacers include relief from foot pain, improved alignment of the toes, improved foot circulation, balance, and stability.
This is no shade to anyone’s parents; I have the best mom in the world, and the information we have today and the access to everything are not what they were when I was growing up. I was in shoes from a very young age, which negatively impacted the development of my feet, the strength of my toes and fibers, and my ankle mobility. After 100+ Pilates sessions, we have uncovered the lack of strength in my feet, and the pain in my arches is most likely from my toes and how they are shaped.
This doesn’t just start and stop with Pilates. The glute and hamstring gains I have seen over the last two months since wearing these have also been INSANE. Why? My feet were weak, which limited my range of motion and the weight I could move on leg day. Now? My strength has increased immensely since wearing the toe spacers.
Other various benefits include:
- correct foot misalignments
- alleviate foot discomfort caused by bunions or plantar fasciitis
- reduce the risk of ankle injury
- stretch and strengthen muscles
- increase shock absorption
- enhanced proprioception
I wear mine for about 5 hours a day now. Start wearing them for 15 minutes daily and increase 5-10 minutes daily (or more if you can handle it). I had them on day one for 3 hours and forgot they were on 🙂
Now I lift with them during Pilates and leg day (when I remember them if you are reading this, Michael) and around the house. They fit into all my shoes (which is why I know my shoes aren’t the issue).
I also recommend taking a picture of your feet before use so you can see how much your toes and feet improve after a few months!
