I was doing a meat rotation on our one freezer this weekend and found a turkey breast from the spring from a bird I got with my bow! you can obviously use chicken in this recipe as a replacement but I hope this gives you more ideas on how to use wild meat for!
Ingredients
- 1 TBSP butter
- 1/2 cup onion- chopped
- 1/2 cup celery- chopped
- 1 lb turkey breast- cooked* and cubed
- 1.5 cups egg noodles
- 1 cup sliced carrots
- 1/2 tsp oregano
- 4 cups vegetable or chicken broth
- Salt and pepper to taste
Directions
- In a large pot over medium heat, add butter, onion, and celery- cook until tender
- Pour in broth, stir in turkey, noodles, carrots, oregano, salt, and pepper
- Bring to a boil then reduce heat and simmer 20 minutes before serving
For my wild turkey, I will simply cook in the crockpot. Set crockpot to high, remove all feathers from breast, add breast to crockpot and cover with water. Takes 4-5 hours depending on size of breast
