We receive a lot of frequently asked questions regarding Bowmar Nutrition. We have a FAQ page on the Bowmar Nutrition website, but I just wanted to get them on to the blog as well!

When I mix my protein in hot liquids, why is it gritty?

Bowmar Nutrition was founded with protein hot chocolate. Our protein is formulated to be enjoyed hot or cold. There are some tips and tricks that we have learned along the way to ensure that whenever you mix protein in hot liquid or coffee you get the best tasting drink.

Tip 1: The coffee or liquid cannot be boiling hot because it will denature the protein.

Tip 2: Always add powder to the liquid. Never add liquid to the powder in your cup.

Tip 3: Always use a rapid mixer to ensure mix-ability

Tip 4: If you’re having issues using a metal tumblr, mix in a different cup and then pour it into your metal tumblr.

You can also enjoy any of our whey, egg based or vegan proteins in hot liquids or cold brew coffee!

What supplements should I take?

Supplements are meant to fill the gaps in your diet and daily routine. Everyone’s goals and needs are different which is why there is not a one size fits all for this question. For example, if your daily protein goal is 120 g of protein but through your whole food sources you’re only getting 95 g of protein, supplementing with a protein bar or protein powder is a great way to fill the gap. Supplements are never required or necessary, however they do make your life easier when if comes to ensuring that your nutritional goals are met.

What makes your product different?

We spent almost two years perfecting these products to ensure they would withstand being heated (protein hot chocolate). Our products are also manufactured in a GMP certified facility and undergo routine tests to ensure shelf life and accurate nutritional information

Can I take your products while pregnant or nursing?

As all pregnancies are unique, we recommend speaking to your doctor. All ingredients are listed on our website for your next appointment. That being said- a lot of pregnant and nursing women do enjoy our products once cleared.

Are your products gluten free?

The majority of our products are gluten free, there are some of our nut butters that are not.

Can I mix my greens and my fiber together?

Due to the nature of the fiber and the need to drink it quickly, we do not recommend adding anything to the fiber. You can, however, mix collagen, greens and BCAAs together.

Are your products NSF certified or WADA approved?

Products are manufactured in a facility that is certified by NSF through the GMP and Certified for Sport programs.

Are your products safe for kids?

Yes- our products are stimulant and hormone free so they are safe for children

I ordered clothes and supplements but I only received supplements

Clothing and other apparel comes form a different warehouse- a separate tracking number and package will arrive

My product says it has been delivered, but I can’t locate. What should I do?

Once the product leaves our warehouse, you will need to contact the shipping provider for updates regarding shipping and delivery. A tracking number is sent to the email address on file

Can I return clothing?

Clothing is all final sale based.

What qualifications are needed to become a Bowmar Nutrition athlete?

We truly appreciate everyone who believes in us enough to want to become an athlete. All sponsorships are an investment from us into the athlete- that being said, we always need to make sure we are making an ROI. We do this by ensuring our athletes have enough of a following and an influence (online and in their community), to reach enough people to market to. Can I use with boiling liquid?

Protein Hot Chocolate can be used with hot liquid but please be advised that mixing with any liquid over 212˚F (liquid boiling point) will cause the PHC to breakdown and seem gritty. Typically,  serving temperatures at coffee shops or popular coffee makers is between 170˚F – 195˚F and will not cause any issues.

My collagen is goopy when I mix it, what am I doing wrong?

If you are using water to mix your collagen, we recommend using room temperature water. You can always add ice once it is blended. If you are mixing the clear skin cocktail (collagen, greens, and BCAAs), we recommend using 20oz of water. Make sure you are always shaking your collagen in a blender cup if you are using water. Please use the rapid mixer if you are adding it to coffee or other hot liquids

My tub didn’t last as long as I thought it would-why is that?

When our products are measured, it is right when it is made (which is when the product is at it’s “fluffiest”). During transit, the ingredients settle and the product becomes denser. We recommend shaking the tub when you receive it and then once every week or so that you have it to “fluff” it up and get more out of each tub! Each product is measured weight when manufactured.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes, we ship to 240 countries. Please note that some additional taxes may apply that is outside of our control

Is there a scooper in the container?

Yes- you may need to sift for it as it may have settled to the bottom during shipping

Can I use your protein as a meal replacement?

I’m having trouble downloading or finding the update to my recipe book I ordered-what should I do?

-If you’re having trouble downloading either cookbook- please ensure you’re only clicking the “download” button once

-Please use the mail service on your phone and not an app like the gmail app

-On iPhones- books will be saved and open either in iBooks or iCloud

-On android- books will be saved under files and phone files under download

-If your phone isn’t working, try opening it on your computer. If it works there- it’s a phone timeout or storage issue

-Updates are sent 2-3 times per month. They come from Shopify so please be sure to add the email to your address book so emails aren’t sent to spam

Why do you use sucralose in PHC?

I would highly recommend listening to this podcast from Lacey Dunn regarding artificial sweeteners, the research, and the safety of their use in small doses (like our product).

Are your products keto friendly?

As “keto friendly” is a subjective term and means different things to different people who are following the keto diet, we do not label our products one way or the other. Many of our products are low carb and all of our products have open labels on our website for you, the consumer, to make the final call on if our products align with the style of meal plan you are following
